EngBio@Leeds

EngBio@Leeds is a multidisciplinary community of researchers at the University of Leeds, who utilise an engineering biology approach to develop new tools and technologies.
Our community spans two major research centres in Leeds: The Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology and the Bragg Centre for Materials Research (and beyond), who provide support to our community.

Our activities currently span three challenge-focused pillars: Medicine & Health, Food & Agriculture, and Sustainability & Environment. Our expertise across three technology areas (biomolecular engineering, supramolecular architectures and materials, and engineering in cells and organoids) is applied to develop novel and innovative biobased solution to industrial and societal challenges. This research is underpinned by our excellent facilities in Bragg and Astbury for characterisation and metrology.
We have a collaborative and multidisciplinary mindset to engineering biology innovation, both internally and externally with national, international and industry collaboration. We are always open and enthusiastic to talk to new potential partners and develop new large and ambitious collaborative research programmes.
